FLOODS! Katherine Railway bridge viewed from Stuart Highway

April 6 2006 Katherine went under water again.
In 1998 the town was devastated by a 1 in 500 year flood - 8 years later - it floods again.

The photo above shows the Katherine river at 19 metres.

Most of the year it flows at 2.5 metres -- do the maths! Posted by Picasa
